Polycaprolactone (PCL) is a biodegradable and biocompatible polyester widely used in biomedical applications due to its excellent mechanical properties, slow degradation rate, and ease of processing. It is commonly utilized for the fabrication of medical implants, tissue engineering scaffolds, and drug delivery systems.
Despite being a challenging and costly powder to work with, we have successfully sintered an industrial ready polycaprolactone based powder (Resomer) in certain research projects using our SnowWhite2 printer.
SnowWhite2 is a laser sintering printer specifically developed for research and development, and it is the only one of its kind to use a CO₂ laser. Thanks to its compact size, it is particularly well-suited for producing objects with expensive powders, minimizing material waste.
A detailed report explaining the methodology used and the results obtained is available.
